Jonathan Littell Wins Bad Sex Award

Diesel Brentwood bookseller Anna Kaufman reports:

One of my favorite times of year has arrived once again! No, not the holidays: the announcement of the Literary Review‘s Bad Sex in Fiction Award winner and nominees. The shortlist is usually announced in November, just in time to put you off your Thanksgiving dinner (or inspire you to pursue other activities, depending on your tastes). And just this week the champion was revealed: Jonathan Littell for his likewise Prix Goncourt-winning The Kindly Ones. He’ll have the honor of getting a large plaster foot to put on his mantel; you, meanwhile, can have the delight/horror of reading excerpts from the shortlisted books. Light some candles, put some Marvin Gaye on the stereo, and enjoy!
